Standing for Ethical Conservation & the Protection of All Wildlife

Planet Savers is dedicated to protecting Africa’s wildlife and ending the exploitation of animals in all its forms. Our approach is inspired by the conservation legacy of Dr Ian Player, whose work was instrumental in saving the southern white rhino from extinction, and guided by the teachings of his mentor, Magqubu Ntombela, a respected Zulu conservationist and traditional custodian of nature. Their partnership reminds us that conservation is both a scientific and a deeply human responsibility—one rooted in compassion, accountability, and respect for every living being.

We stand firmly against captive breeding, canned hunting, wildlife farming, and any practice that undermines the welfare or dignity of wild animals. Lions have become a powerful symbol of this fight, representing not only the urgency of reform but also the opportunity for South Africa to lead with integrity in matters of ethical conservation.

Partnerships & Collaboration

Planet Savers has collaborated closely with Blood Lions, contributing to public education, awareness-building, and advocacy campaigns that highlight the realities of captive predator industries. Through these partnerships, we support South Africa’s ongoing shift toward transparent, humane, and conservation-led wildlife policies. Our role is to empower the public, amplify credible research, and work alongside organisations striving for ethical and sustainable change.

Support for Ethical Transitions

Planet Savers was recently consulted during the formation of the Ministerial Lion Task Team, offering guidance to individuals looking to transition away from the captive lion industry. Although the structure of the task team later changed, our commitment to supporting ethical alternatives remains unchanged.

We continue to assist those who wish to leave exploitative practices behind—providing information, resources, and advocacy as they move toward livelihoods that respect wildlife and contribute to real conservation outcomes.

Our Commitment

  1. Wildlife is respected and protected—not commodified.
  2. No lion or wild species is bred for entertainment, hunting, or commercial exploitation.
  3. Ethical conservation and public education become national standards.
  4. Future generations inherit a natural world that thrives, not one that is threatened.

This is our mission.

This is our responsibility.

This is the work of Planet Savers.
